MICROBLADING FAQ'S

What does a procedure involve?

Your first step will be to make an appointment for a consultation to discuss your needs and the procedures which you are interested in. Agata will discuss the shape which would be most flattering and natural for your face as well as the color which will harmonize with your skin’s undertones. Agata is an artist and is very skilled at blending pigment for a client’s skin tone. She will show you some before and after photos to give you an idea of how the procedure can transform and give youth to your facial features. Before get your procedure done, please read the PRE-CARE and AFTER-CARE recommendations.

What to expect after your treatment?

During the procedure there may be some minor bleeding. This will depend on the client. If a person is taking blood thinners on a daily basis, then some slight bleeding may occur. Immediately after your treatment, the skin around your brows may be slightly pink. However this will disappear in a couple of hours. There is usually some tenderness at the first day. Initially, the pigment in the brows will look dark for several days. Once the skin begins to heal it will lighten and soften. As the layers of skin start to heal and peel, they cover the pigment so that it may appear that the color is faded or gone. After those layers completely peel off, the underlying pigment can be seen.
Your brows will fade up to 60% after your first treatment and they also shrink up to 20%.

How long does it take to perform the procedure?

The procedure is split into 2 appointments, which are 4-6 weeks apart to allow for the healing process to complete. The initial procedure will take 2 hours, and your second appointment ( touch-up) takes from 60 minutes.

Does the procedure hurt?

A combination of 2 anesthetics are used, first a topical numbing cream and then a local anesthetic is introduced once the micropigmentation/ microblading procedure has started. This is topped up regularly during the treatment to keep you comfortable.

Will micropigmentation / microblading procedure change or look bad as I age?

Micropigmentation/ microblading procedure will fade gradually over time, so there will not be an obvious change in your applications. The color will fade and when you return for a touch-up you can also change the color to your liking as you age. Will micropigmentation/ microblading procedure be suitable for dark complexions? Yes, permanent cosmetics can benefit any woman of any age or complexion.

Can I keep my own brow hair?

Once you and our expert have decided on the best brow shape, any hair within that shape can stay and will only make the work look more natural. We do not shave or remove your entire natural brow as found with other permanent makeup studios. Any hair outside the shape can be waxed or tweezed after the healing process just as you would normally do with your normal brow maintenance.

Are micropigmentation/ microblading really permanent?

The cosmetics micro pigmentation technique deposits color pigment into the upper reticular layer of the skin and is considered permanent because it cannot be washed off. Unlike traditional tattoos performed on the body, permanent cosmetics professionals do not use traditional tattoo ink (dye). Micropigmentation/ microblading pigment is more delicate and designed to work with the skin’s undertones and to mimic hair. These pigments are designed to gently fade over time. Fading is desired as it allows the artist to make changes to color and shape over the years as client’s natural coloration and facial changes occur.

How do you choose a color?

We choose a color together by applying small amounts of different colored pigments to the skin near to your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. Posh Permanent Makeup uses pigments without heavy metals made in Germany and US.

Which factors can effect longevity of micropigmentation/ microblading procedure?

Color selected, age, thickness of skin, scarring of skin, use of skin care products, injectables, laser treatments, medication and sun exposure. You will need periodic refreshing of color, depending on how light the shade of implanted pigment, as well as factors mentioned above. Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Caffeine, alcohol, certain food or drink, and medications act as blood-thinners and should avoided 48 hours prior to your appointment. *Please note- if anyone tells you only need one visit to complete your procedure and you will not need a touch-up ever, then he/she is not being truthful. Run!

What if I am planning to have plastic surgery?

Many women choose to have to have eyeliner done before face lifts so they will look better during the recovery period. If you are considering a brow lift, wait until after the healing process before having your brow procedure.

What if I am using Latisse? Can I still get an eyeliner procedure?

It is very important to stop using Latisse at least a month before having a permanent eyeliner procedure. In some cases Agata may refuse to work on a client who has had Latisse if their eyelids are thin to begin with. Do not start to use Latisse until at least two weeks after you have completed your final procedure.

I had an unsatisfactory permanent cosmetics brow procedure done elsewhere, can Posh Permanent Makeup fix it?

In most cases we can significantly improve your bad brow procedure, depending on how much time you want to invest and whether or not your skin is scarred. Correcting bad work can give you the beautiful brows your originally hoped for. If tattoo removal is required Posh Permanent Makeup will refer you to a professional laser technician.

What is the difference between Microblading and Micropigmentation procedure?

Microblading is manual method that allows to recreate, correct and improve the appearance of natural brow. This procedure is ideal for both people who have natural brows and those who don’t. Microblading procedure is often considered a type of permanent makeup, however, its concept is different: it is done with a hand-held tool made out of needles, that puts pigment into the first layer of your skin. The results often last from 9 to 18 months. Micropigmentation is permanent eyebrow tattooing or semi-permanent makeup method. This method is done with a digital machine. The color is implanted deeper into the skin-known as the dermal layer. It lasts longer than Microblading/Eyebrow Embroidery method. Micropigmentation procedure typically last longer with 2 years + being typical for most clients. Please check or ask to see the studio's state licensing before considering any procedure.

Will my Microbladed Eyebrows look fake?

When we implant semi-permanent makeup pigment in the skin, it appears more natural looking than even topically applied cosmetics.

Are Permanent Cosmetics expensive?

Not if you look at long-term cost and effect. Permanent Cosmetics actually costs little compared to lifelong daily make-up expenses. Permanent make- up doesn’t run or wash off! Consider it a beautiful investment in yourself. Posh Permanent Makeup's practice consists of nearly 1/3 of services which are corrective procedures from bad work done elsewhere. When you go bargain shopping for the lowest price, the work you receive may be reflective with unsatisfactory results. Your face is too important to chance having such serious work done by a technician who does not have the experience, training or artistic talent to achieve the best result. The consultation is a half-hour to an hour appointment which may include a patch test and photographs. Prices are quoted as part of your consultation .

Are there safety issues that I should be concerned with?

All procedures performed adhere to strict OSHA standards for safety and sterilization. Agata also takes a yearly Blood Born Pathogens exam. Here is our safety protocol: Pre-sterilized disposable needles which are opened in front of client Pre-sterilized disposable pigment cups Gamma sterilized pigments used. No tattoo inks used. Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

How many treatments are needed?

Microblading is a multiple step appointment process. YOUR BROWS WILL NOT BE COMPLETED AFTER JUST ONE SERVICE. For microblading, at least two appointments are needed initially. Each of these appointments being 4-6 weeks apart. At the second visit, your Enhancement Session, we will assess the color retention and make any adjustments necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go bolder and add more density at your next appointment.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo. The pigment will fade over time and we recommend to get an Annual Touch-Up to keep them looking their best. There is no guarantee in how long it lasts as each individual has very different skin and lifestyle. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: skin type, pigment selection, lifestyle (sun exposure, smoking, acidic skincare products, etc), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), chemical peels, etc. Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.
