LIPS

What does this procedure involve?

Your first step will be to make an appointment for a consultation to discuss your needs and the procedures which you are interested in. Agata will discuss the color which would be most flattering and will harmonize with your skin’s undertones. Agata is an artist and is very skilled at blending pigment for a client’s skin tone. She will show you some before and after photos to give you an idea of how the procedure can transform and give youth to your facial features. Before get your procedure done, please read the PRE-CARE and AFTER-CARE recommendations.

What to expect after your treatment?

After your treatment, your lips may be swollen. However this will disappear in a couple of hours. There is usually some tenderness at the first day. Initially, the pigment in the brows will look dark for several days. Once the skin begins to heal it will lighten and soften. As the layers of skin start to heal and peel, they cover the pigment so that it may appear that the color is faded or gone. After those layers completely peel off, the underlying pigment can be seen. Over the first 7 days after your lip blush your lips will heal and the color will fade 50%.

How long does it take to perform the procedure?

The procedure is split into 2 appointments, which are 4-6 weeks apart to allow for the healing process to complete. The initial procedure will take around 2 and a half hours, touch-ups tend to be about 1 hour and a half.

Is the procedure painful?

Here at posh permanent makeup we use a highly effective topical anesthetic to help with any discomfort. You should only expect minimal discomfort.

What should I do to prepare for my procedure?

The week leading up to your procedure you will need to moisturize your lips with vaseline or aquaphor. Exfoliate your lips the night before your procedure and avoid blood thinners. Do not have Botox or fillers 2 weeks prior to your appointment. If you have had cold sores in the past ask your doctor for a prescription.

Will I bleed during the procedure?

Very few patients bleed during their lip procedure, and those who do don’t bleed excessively. If you regularly take blood thinners you are more likely to bleed.

How do you choose a color?

We choose a color together by applying small amounts of different colored pigments to the skin near to your brows and selecting the best match for your skin tone, features and personal preference. Posh Permanent Makeup uses pigments without heavy metals made in Germany and US. Remember that pigment colors are always darker than they will heal, so during and right after your procedure the color will be brighter and darker but it will fade.

Which factors can effect longevity of the procedure?

Color selected, age, thickness of skin, scarring of skin, use of skin care products, injectables, laser treatments, medication and sun exposure. You will need periodic refreshing of color, depending on how light the shade of implanted pigment, as well as factors mentioned above. Bleeding during the procedure: Excessive bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Caffeine, alcohol, certain food or drink, and medications act as blood-thinners and should avoided 48 hours prior to your appointment. *Please note- if anyone tells you only need one visit to complete your procedure and you will not need a touch-up ever, then he/she is not being truthful.

What is the healing process?

For the first 24 hours you will likely experience some swelling and redness, it can be helpful to ice your lips during this time. The first 48 hours after your appointment you should avoid sweating, sun exposure and eating citric, acid, or spicy foods. Make sure to keep your hands off of your lips and use mouthwash 3 times a day. To keep your lips clean apply the after care cream we provide a couple times a day for 5 days and do not apply makeup or skin care to your lips for 7 days. Only wash your lips with antibacterial soap, and dry with a paper towel.

Are Permanent Cosmetics expensive?

Not if you look at long-term cost and effect. Permanent Cosmetics actually costs little compared to lifelong daily make-up expenses. Permanent make- up doesn’t run or wash off! Consider it a beautiful investment in yourself. Posh Permanent Makeup's practice consists of nearly 1/3 of services which are corrective procedures from bad work done elsewhere. When you go bargain shopping for the lowest price, the work you receive may be reflective with unsatisfactory results. Your face is too important to chance having such serious work done by a technician who does not have the experience, training or artistic talent to achieve the best result. The consultation is a half-hour to an hour appointment which may include a patch test and photographs. Prices are quoted as part of your consultation .

Are there safety issues that I should be concerned with?

All procedures performed adhere to strict OSHA standards for safety and sterilization. Agata also takes a yearly Blood Born Pathogens exam. Here is our safety protocol: Pre-sterilized disposable needles which are opened in front of client Pre-sterilized disposable pigment cups Gamma sterilized pigments used. No tattoo inks used. After that time you can do a color boost as needed. However, there is no guarantee on how long it lasts as each individual has very different skin and lifestyle. Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: skin type, pigment selection, lifestyle (sun exposure, smoking, acidic skincare products, etc), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), chemical peels, etc. Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.
